Songs We Considered

A Day To Remember - A Shot In The Dark
This song came down to our final two for the same reasons that we decided on our final song, the imaginary and ideas that link to the song and lyrics came to us naturally and we had several ideas one being based around a singer of a band and an obsessive fan trying to imitate the singer to the point he decides the only way he can be more like him is if he kills the singer and takes over the band.

Asking Alexandria - Morte Et Dabo
For this song our idea was to film a performance in a church for the rock and roll attitude of not caring and being in someone face, this was due to the lyrical themes of defying god 'You're not a god of mine' 'I never believed in you'. In the end we scrapped this idea as we felt it was too simplistic and a logistical nightmare.

Bury Tomorrow - Knight Life
This song was one we didn't consider for long, while the tempo and style of the song was perfect for us after watching the video several times through we come to the conclusion the video that they had in place had done enough, we felt like anything we did would come back to the original video and we was better off working with a song that didn't have a video as there is then no competition.

Blink-182 - First Date
This song was one of the first that I had ideas for, it has no current music video and the fact its light and upbeat would me the video didn't have to be serious and we could play on some more intertextual features. My idea initially was to have a series of men taking women out on first dates and failing while cross cutting shows a separate man getting ready for a date and this character upstages all the other guys and ends up as the perfect date.

  1. WWW- The depth of your explanation for each song choice is impressive. First Date would have offered a much more softer video. Asking Alexandria was my favourite idea out of all song choices as you would have been able to make clear direct links to the lyrics and the images you produce. You effectively listen to song choices and imagine the type of video you could produce with it. I think this technique is a great starting point when trying to think of ideas for settings/narrative or conceptual videos.
EBI- Could improve by adding details on what made you consider the songs in the first place.
